Makeup Artist Sofia Tilbury Shares Her Guide To Ibiza

Sofia Tilbury, yes you’ve guessed it, is part of the Tilbury makeup dynasty and is known for serving up the sultriest of looks for celebrities and the fashion crowd. Having grown up between Ibiza and London, who better then, to share her guide to the White Isle.

From party to chill locations, here are the top island hotspots that’ll deliver quintessential Ibiza feels.

To Stay: Six Senses Ibiza

Six Senses Ibiza is a hotel that just opened this summer in Xarraca Bay, which is in the beautiful, secluded northern tip of Ibiza. It has been built on a cliff right next to the beach, and you can jump straight into the sea from the hotel. The food and drinks are stunning too!!

Can Talaias is another great option. It’s a homely, casual boutique hotel run by family friends, with stunning sea views and an authentic Ibizan vibe.

To Play: Formentera boat trip

One of the best things to do in Ibiza is take a boat trip to Formentera. It’s one of my favourite places in the entire world. We used to spend around 4 months out of every year in Formentera when I was growing up as my parents ran a hotel restaurant there. The sands are white, the sea is turquoise—it is total paradise. I recommend spending a night there if you can!

To Dine: Macao Café and La Paloma

Two of my favourites are Macao Café and La Paloma. Both are family run and both have incredible gardens with beautiful bougainvillea and cool, creative clientele.

La Paloma is without a doubt one of the most beautiful restaurants in Ibiza.

Macao Café is run by a friend of my grandparents, Luca. Mentioning their name always gets me a table! The pizzas, pastas and grilled summer vegetables are all excellent.

To Drink: Bambuddha

It’s another place owned by a family friend, serving amazing Mediterranean-Asian fusion cuisine in an incredibly chilled-out atmosphere. You are always bound to bump into someone amazing, it’s such a great crowd.

To Dance: Cova Santa

I’m from Ibiza, so I feel like I was born in heels and LOVE dancing!! Cova Santa is a great day to night party, with amazing events and DJs like Chloe Caillet, a chilled-out, boho energy and a hippie market where you can relax and browse before the night begins.

Beach Bars: Sunset Ashram

Sunset Ashram is one of the best sunset views on the island and it always has a great DJ, but it is very popular, so get there early or book a table!

Experimental Beach, Es Torrent and Es Xarcu are also great options, with the latter being a really intimate, breezy vibe with divine fresh fish dishes.

To Chill: With family in north-east Ibiza

For me, there is nowhere better to chill than back at home in north-east Ibiza. My whole family are out there, and we love spending lazy days by the pool, cooking big salads, puttanesca and gazpacho, and playing hours upon hours of backgammon.

To Shop: Annie’s and Vicente Ganesha

My favourite place to shop is old town Ibiza, especially Annie’s, which is a stunning boutique store run by a friend of mine. It’s the perfect place to go if you get to Ibiza and find you haven’t packed enough party dresses for nights out dancing. Every piece is exclusive, because Annie collaborates with amazing brands to create a really eclectic, vintage-inspired collection.

Vicente Ganesha is another must visit. It is such a beautiful little store, full of pieces to build out your beachwear wardrobe including sarongs, beach dresses, airy shirts that have been beautifully made in gorgeous boho fabrics. Vicente’s Instagram is worth a follow too! He’s a huge character.

Favorite Beach: Agua Blancas

I pretty much grew up on Agua Blancas beach, so it always reminds me of my childhood. It’s the best place to dip in and out of the sea whilst unwinding with a book, and the chringuito there serves THE BEST sandwiches in the world.

Beauty Destination: Fig Beauty

I recently discovered the amazing Keely at Fig Beauty for nails, but she also does lash lifts, spray tans and brow treatments. Her work is totally flawless, and she really knows how to make you feel incredible.

Culture: Ibiza Old Town

If you want an authentic Ibizan experience, take a wander through Ibiza Old Town in the evening, and pop in and out of bars like Bar 1805 whilst taking in all of the incredible heritage sites like the cathedral and castle battlements.

Secret Place: Es Canaret

Hire an old fishing boat Ibiza Bohemian boat charters on Benirras beach and take a trip out to Es Canaret. It’s totally serene, beautiful and super secluded because you can’t get there easily by car.

You can fit up to 8 people in the boats, and I highly recommend taking a picnic, a bottle of something special and some speakers, so you can have your own private party on the crystal clear water.

Most Beautiful Place: Es Vedra

Without a doubt, Es Vedra at sunset. It literally gives you chills. Es Vedra is the magical island of Ibiza, and there are legends about it being one of the most magnetic points in the world.
