We have a bit of a thing for beauty products over at ES Best.
Each month, all types of lotions and potions across makeup, skincare, haircare and more cross our desks and we take it upon ourselves to review each and every one so that you don’t have to. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it.
In our Let’s Make-Up round-up, we bring you a selection of the tried and tested, freshest, and buzziest beauty launches that are worth adding to your basket. If we include it below, then you know it’s a good ‘un.
With the onset of July, we’re hoping that the sun will finally rear its head. But if not, we’ll take solace in the pampering body products from BioEffect and Alicia Keys’ label Keys Soulcare. Counteracting fine lines and pigmentation, Liz Earle and Murad have us covered with innovative, science-backed formulas. On the makeup front, our lips are in for a treat from By Terry and Anastasia Beverly Hills’ first foray into lip balm. Professional makeup artist favourite label Morphe has also got a helpful multi-tasking product up its sleeve in the form of a tinted moisturiser. Let’s just say its a very exciting time to swap out your empties.

For thicker, more luscious locks, this leave-in formula is directly applied to the root and has a trademarked Health Follicle Complex with yeast proteins, zinc salt and jojoba esters to strengthen and nourish. Liz Earle Beauty Co Superskin Alt-Retinol
For those with sensitivities, you may have long believed that retinol was entirely out of the question as part of your skincare routine, but no more. Liz Earle has launched two products designed specifically to give all the supercharged effects of the vitamin A derivative without the irritation, dryness, or redness. It’s taken 25 years in the making, and the plant-based alternative is available as a Booster and leave-on Skin Paste. The botanical-based two-step formulations use two key ingredients; stevia and bidens pilosa that mimic retinol’s youth-inducing, fine line-minimising and plumping benefits. 80 per cent of people saw a visible transformation in just two weeks, while after four, it increased to 96 per cent.
BioEffect EGF Body Serum
No matter what the weather suggests, it’s summer and we are prepping our body with this new launch from Icelandic skincare label BioEffect. Giving your skin the same care that you would your face, this serum uses just eight ingredients with a potent formula that includes the replenishing protein Barley EGF – the brand’s signature ingredient – as well as hyaluronic acid and glycerin. It works to hydrate your skin that can be dried out in the summer and has anti-ageing effects to leave you smoother, plumper and firmer. The clean formula is striped back to just the bare necessities without silicone, fragrance, oil, alcohol or parabens. In a four week trial by the brand, all participants felt their skin was more nourished, softer and smoother, while almost all (92 per cent) agreed that it restored dry and rough skin and saw a visible improvement (85 per cent).
Scientia Pure Clarity
Between 2020 and 2021, the acne and blemish skincare category saw a surge of 200 per cent. When you take into consideration the stress, maskne and excessive time spent inside, this will come as no surprise to many as these aggressors all had a negative impact on the clarity of our complexions. In response, Scientia has launched its Pure Clarity range to soothe, hydrate and purge those pores. Like all the brand’s products, it combines ingredients from nature and science that won’t strip the skin but decongests effectively. The three-part collection is made up of the Deep Clean PHA Cleanser, PHA Skin Tonic Toner and Blemish Paste that contain the likes of succinic acid, calamine, niacinamide and sacred lotus extract with immediate and long-term effects.

The formulas are rich in nourishing vitamins and oils to pack your pout with goodness and there’s a subtle tint. The packaging is designed so that you place your lips directly to the product – no need to sanitise your hands before use.

The antimicrobial design speeds up the drying process without heat. It is quick-drying and is clinically proven to repel bacteria. The newest launch is woven with the brand’s trademarked Copper Sure technology – a naturally derived treatment that will keep your hair fresher for longer and means you need to wash it less as it stays odourless and mould resistant.
By Terry Hyaluronic Hydra-Balm
Skincare meets lip care with this new product from luxury French makeup label By Terry. While hydrating your pout, it also gives a lovely tint, a high shine finish and protects it from external aggressors. The vegan formula contains a hit of two different hyaluronic acids at varying molecular weights to tackle both the top and deeper layers of skin. The pigments are crystal colour to give a natural finish and its also packed with filters and antioxidants to provide effective protection from UV rays. There are six shades in varying nude hues with pops of pink, apricot, coral, red and berry.
