It may surprise you to learn that perspiration does not have any odor. What we smell is other toxins carried out with the sweat that the body is trying to rid itself of. If you have a chronic problem with body odor it often has to do with what is going on inside your body as much as outside. So just taking more baths will often not be enough.

From dietary imbalances to vitamin and mineral deficiencies to toxic overload, all of these can cause chronic odor problems. Learning to eat healthy, exercise and of course good hygiene are good starts, but you may need to do more.

Body Odor Remedies

Mineral deficiency. One cause of chronic body odor is a lack of magnesium. You can supplement with 400 – 500 mg a day. Also eat foods high in this important mineral.

Natures Deodorant. Your body is likely over run with chemicals and toxins. So stop using store brand deodorants which clog the pores and make it impossible for toxins to leave out the skin. An excellent, all natural deodorant can be made easily by mixing the following ingredients: 1 teaspoon of rubbing alcohol, 3 drops of tea tree oil, and three table spoons of fresh squeezed lemon juice. Test a small amount on wrist just to make sure there is no skin sensitivity. After this mixture drys, add a dab of lavender oil under your arms for a refreshing scent.

Herbal Remedy. Parsley is most known as a breath freshener, but is equally good as a body odor remedy when eaten. The next time you see some on your plate don’t just leave it there as a decoration. Eat it and learn to include it more often with meals. The herb parsley can be consumed as a tea to help control body odor as well. Steep a teaspoon of grated parsley in a cup of water for 10 minutes. Drink this tea twice daily for a natural body deodorizer.

Deep breathing can help. Since stress often plays a significant role in excess toxins building up in the body that comes out when sweating, it plays a role in causing body odor. Learn to practice daily deep breathing techniques. We often breath shallow and short breaths. This makes the body think we are under duress and this creates feelings of stress. Stress then produces hormones that produce sweating and other factors that can lead to B.O.

Essential oils. Do use caution when using essential oils externally as they can irritate the skin. So ask your herbalist or some one knowledgeable at your health food store about using lavender and peppermint body odor remedies. But when used correctly these oils can help the skin and leave you smelling fresh.
